Hostelworld is a leading global Online Travel Agent (OTA) focused on the hostel market, inspiring adventurous minds to experience new places, meet new people and come back with amazing stories to tell.
Challenge
Hostelworld has seen massive decrease in sales because of the pandemic event so they took this chance to make a complete redesign to all of their existing solutions: web app, admin app, mobile app (iOS, Android) and setup a design system to unite everything.
Solution
The travel industry is highly dynamic. Keeping up with these changes, such as the increasing demand for sustainable and unique travel experiences and adapting the business model accordingly can be challenging.
They were in the middle of building a design system so they reached out to us to eliminate ambiguities in the components library, naming convention and complete the design rules to be able to scale and fit all of their solutions.
Results
We've approached this project by establishing first the ‘happy path’ of their ideal user followed by creating interactive prototypes and applying design system rules for all existing screens.
This lead to a decrease in feature release, increased collaboration and consistency for web, mobile and desktop apps.
Results: 55M Platform visits (yearly) & 10M App downloads & 14M Property reviews & 20k Property listings, alongside with a 40% increase in feature release speed.
